Thoroughbred Racing Syndicates is an Irish company set up by former professional rugby player Johne Murphy. Johne’s career spanned 10 years, five successful seasons with Leicester Tigers, followed by five more successful seasons with Munster. His love of horse racing was nurtured by the years he spent going racing with his father John.

After retiring, Johne decided to follow his passion and began setting up racing syndicates which have been very successful to date. Over the past three years his syndicates and partnerships have produced seven individual winners (six of them multiple winners) from 12 horses, with 11 of the 12 being placed over the period. Johne moved to the next level with Thoroughbred Racing Syndicates in 2021, purchasing 10 horses, 5 yearlings and 5 older horses. There was a 50% runner to winner ratio, with a total of 5 winners and 3 other horses being placed.

Thoroughbred Racing Syndicates believes in spreading risk for its members in syndicates with multiple horses. This reduces the risk and give members an opportunity to have numerous runners throughtout the season. In 2021 we provided our owners with a first-class experience by purchasing high-end bloodstock and providing access to world-class Irish trainer Joseph O'Brien. With gross sales of over 800 thousand euro and a profit per share of nearly 30% for some owners, it was a great year!

We have now purchased our year two stock and we hope for an even better year both on and off the track.

"One of the main advantages of the syndicate model is the ability to spread risk amongst elite horses and the ability to have people who can really get more enjoyment together than individually"
